Beach towns like Pacific Beach, La Jolla, and the downtown Gaslamp Quarter should come alive with tourists seeking beach fun and nightlife. The occasional coastal fog means the mornings can be cloudy, but the sun usually burns away the clouds by early afternoon. San Diego gets into the summer spirit with exciting outdoor offerings and events.

1. In Every Generation

The Levi-Katz family celebrates Passover again and again—1416 BCE, 1954, 2019 and 2050 to be exact! While the time, location, and language changes, the traditions stay the same. Over matzah ball soup and (vegan) brisket, this close-knit clan contends with questions of race, religion, and inter-generational trauma.

2.  San Diego International Fringe Festival

3. Valley Center Western Days Festival & Parade

Established in 1950, Western Days is the historic and premiere annual event celebrating Valley Center's western heritage. Every year the Valley Center community celebrates its western heritage with a series of events including the Western Days Festival, Parade, Chili Cook-off, the election of Valley Center's "Honorary Mayor".

4. Channel 93.3 Summer Kick Off

Channel 93.3 has just released the lineup for the 2022 Summer Kick Off on Friday, June 3! Join us at Gallagher Square with special guests 5 Seconds of Summer, Becky G, Charlie Puth, Tate McRae, & Gayle.

5. Heineken 0.0 Rock 'n' Roll Running Series San Diego

Have a rocking time at the annual Heineken 0.0 Rock 'n' Roll Running Race, which will feature live bands along the course. Opt to participate in the 5k, half marathon, or full-marathon race. This is a unique way to consider exploring the city, as the race will begin at Balboa Park and travel through eight popular neighborhoods before ending in Downtown San Diego. Registration prices are $44 for the 5k, $99 for the half marathon, and $109 for the full marathon.

6. Alley Art Festival

The Alley Art Festival celebrates inclusivity and diversity; organizers embrace the motto, "art is for everyone." The fest features interactive art displays from artists of all ability levels across multiple mediums. Admission is free and open to the public.

7. Street Food Fest - City Heights

Spend your night at City Heights surrounded by live music and art, beer and wine, and some of the best international street food. There will also be spoken word performances, so you're in for a unique experience at this food festival. General admission tickets are $20 at the door ($10 - City Heights Resident Admission). There is also a Birthday Bundle for $40.

8. West Coast Weekender Fest

Looking to party? Look no further, West Coast Weekender is the Place to be in San Diego this month. The 5th annual event is located at the Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club & Bungalows and that celebrates electronic music. There will also be workshops and experiences like yoga, dance classes, massages, body art, and more.

9. Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off

With over 70,000 visitors in attendance, beachfront entertainment, food, art, shopping, and more, you're guaranteed to have a good time. Watch amateur cooks face off to compete for the Hottest Chili, the Judges' Award, and the People's Choice Award. Entrance is free, so come hang out.

10. SeaWorld's Electric Ocean

It’s a whole new park after dark during SeaWorld’s Electric Ocean. Immerse yourself in exotic worlds of light and music in this family-friendly event. Enjoy ALL NEW experiences including the Cirque Neon World, an astounding theatrical production that features a mix of circus skills, dance, and world-beat music. Plus, join the interactive dance floor at Club Sea Glow featuring a DJ that will keep you moving all night, leading up to the Ignite fireworks finale.

11. 2022 San Diego County Fair

Pow! Wham! Shazam! Superheroes are the stars of this year’s San Diego County Fair...from the action-packed pop culture superheroes from comic books and the silver screen, to those awe-inspiring Community Heroes we’ve found right in our own neighborhoods. Soar through the air on adrenaline-pumping carnival rides, strike a power pose with your favorite superheroes, taste your way through the Fair’s superfoods, and discover entertainment surprises around every corner.

12. Tijuana International Beer Festival

A world class craft beer festival with breweries from Baja and San Diego. Music, food and fun with a community purpose. For two days of summer, the Tijuana International Beer Festival will host the best craft beers from Baja and San Diego. A fun filled family event full of cool music, yummy food and the classiest beers from the region.

13. San Diego Padres Baseball Season

San Diego's professional Major League baseball team, the San Diego Padres play their home games at Petco Park in the Downtown region of San Diego. With year-round good weather, visitors can enjoy a great baseball experience at the #1 Ballpark in America!


14. Southern California Beach Soccer Championships

The largest Beach Soccer Festival on the West Coast, this annual beach soccer festival is a competitive tournament for regional and worldwide teams that is also a fun family event on Harbor Beach in Oceanside.

15. Annual Festa do Espirito Santo

Celebrate Portuguese Heritage by joining in the city's oldest ethnic festival, Festa do Espirito Santo, that commemorates Portugal's Queen St. Isabel. It is said that Queen Saint Isabel saved bread from her own table to give to the hungry. Legend has it that the King tried to stop her from mingling with the poor and the Queen was once caught hiding something in her cloak. When he demanded that she open her cloak to show the concealed food, she said a prayer and threw open her cloak. Instead of bread, red roses tumbled out. It is for this reason that the statue of Queen St. Isabel is depicted with the mantle of flowers.

16. Del Mar Village Summer Solstice

Come experience delectable culinary creations during Del Mar Village Summer Solstice, enjoy selections from some of California's best wineries and breweries. The Del Mar Village Association, Uncle Ed’s Damn Good Vodka and Monarch Ocean Pub invite you to celebrate the beginning of summer as only Del Mar knows how.


17. Mission Hills Summer Concerts in the Park

Mission Hills Summer Concerts in the Park is back for the 27th year, put on by the community organizations and businesses every summer, is a beloved musical tradition in Mission Hills. Bring a blanket and picnic basket and join us for free concerts in Pioneer Park Fridays during the summer months. The concerts usually draw around 500 attendees who catch up with neighbors and friends as they sing and dance along to the music.

18. San Diego Greek Festival

St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church invites you to join us at our annual Greek Festival. We enjoy sharing our heritage, culture, music, traditions, customs and culinary skills with you, our neighbors and friends in San Diego and Southern California.

19. San Diego International Triathlon

We are excited to welcome you to the 38th Annual San Diego International Triathlon. This race is one of the longest standing triathlons in the country and hopefully a favorite. There are two courses to choose from an international course and a sprint course, whichever you choose you’re guaranteed a great ride. Both races take place at the Spanish landing Park located on Harbor Drive across from the San Diego International Airport.

20. San Diego Wooden Boat Festival

The San Diego Wooden Boat Festival provides a rare opportunity for the public to view some of the most beautiful and well maintained wooden crafts up close. A San Diego Father's Day weekend tradition, the San Diego Wooden Boat Festival is the premier annual event for Southern California wooden boat enthusiasts and provides a rare opportunity for the general public to view some of the most beautiful and well maintained wooden crafts up close. While this event features mostly well preserved vintage vessels there are also plenty of new crafts that have been hand crafted with skill and meticulous detail.
