Happy Fall, Y'all! October brings us deep into the fall season—a time full of festive celebrations, amber and auburn foliage, autumnal spices, and spooky decor. Halloween is my favorite holiday! September was very busy  but managed to pick up a few costumes and looking forward to celebrating all month long.

Experience exciting events, Halloween fun, Day of the Dead  celebrations and more.  Enjoy global cuisine, and a variety of fun local activities this October in San Diego.

1. Ocean Beach Oktoberfest

Mark your calendars!  The WILDEST Oktoberfest in San Diego is celebrating its 20th year on Fri, Oct 7th & Sat, Oct 8th, 2022 in Ocean Beach, where Newport meets the beach.Our festivities include both family-friendly and adult activities.  The family-friendly vendors and activities are organized by the Ocean Beach Main Street Association in Veteran's Plaza. In our 21+ beer garden you can enjoy a classic german brew or local beer, wine & spirits.  We'll have live music by local and nationally touring artists, contests, vendors, giveaways and more.

2.  Taste of North Park 

Home to culinary innovation and cutting-edge brew-masters, North Park is a go-to San Diego destination for everything food, drink, and the arts. On Saturday, October 8th, from 11AM to 3PM, the Taste of North Park invites culinary enthusiasts to enjoy over 40 food tastes and 15 craft beer/craft cider sips from North Park’s best restaurants and breweries while exploring the sites and sounds of this eclectic North Park neighborhood.

4. Rancho Santa Fe Open 

2022 RSF OPEN TOURNAMENT "Rancho Santa Fe Open" $80K Women's USTA ITF Pro-Circuit Event. The RSF Open at Rancho Santa Fe Tennis Club ignited membership and the community. Last October, members and guests came together as sponsors, fans and volunteers for the RSFTC $60k USTA Pro Circuit event. It was the largest tennis event the community has ever hosted and players came ranking in the top 70 in the world with Rebecca Peterson of Sweden winning the Singles' Championship. This year will be bigger and better than ever with the newly upgraded Women's $80k USTA Pro Circuit Event. The aim of this engaging event is to display a high level of play inspiring youth and adult players in the community and across the county

5. Rancho Days!

Rancho Days are an annual tradition that celebrates local nonprofit organizations, community connection and the historical nature of RSF. This year’s family friendly festivities include Taco Fest, RSF Golf Club’s Wild West Party, Family Fun Day, RSF Rotary’s Taste of Rancho Santa Fe and much more.

6. Taste of Rancho Santa Fe

The Taste of Rancho Santa Fe features award-winning wines poured by vintners adorning the California Coast from Temecula to Sonoma and Napa.  It also, features varied tastes of scrumptious bites from some of San Diego’s finest restaurants.

7. La Jolla Art & Wine Festival

Come spend the afternoon at the Wine & Beer Garden sampling local and regional wines, craft beers and spirits from more than 35 participating sponsors with live music throughout the day! So much to do at the Art & Wine Festival! 

8. Mission Bay Triathlon

 Join us at the birthplace of the sport for the XTERRA Wetsuits Mission Bay Triathlon! In 1974, the first Mission Bay Triathlon was as a run-bike-swim- run event on Fiesta Island by the San Diego Track Club. This is an ON Road Triathlon.

                                   


    

9. Carmel Valley Trail 5K, 10K and 15K

                                               

Welcome to San Diego's only trail race through beautiful Gonzales Canyon Open Space. Due to construction at the race's original location, the event has been moved to the beautiful Solana Ranch Park, which sits at the opposite end of Gonzales Canyon, and features a less hilly course than usual. Although not as much elevation and hills for the 10K and 5K, the 15K runners will still see the locally famous "Puke Hill" and "Roller Coaster" as part of their course... that's right we couldn't let that happen. Someone needs to race up the damn thing! Don't let the coastal backdrop fool you... the trails on this course can feel like a mountain race so train like it is.This is event is limited to 350 runners and will sell out!

                                   


    

10. Not So Scary Eco Festival

                                               

Costume contest at noon, prizes for Most Eco-friendly, Best Animal Theme, and Most Creative. Environmentally friendly craft-making. Live Animal Encounters: bats, reptiles, raptors. Interactive nature activities. Bounce house.

                                   


    

11. San Diego International Film Festival

                                               

'Putting the Fest Back in Festival!' This year includes the return of the Opening Night Film Premiere & Reception, the Night of the Stars Tribute, Culinary Cinema, plus in-person parties, panels and networking events.

                                   


    

12. USA Ultimate National Championships

                                               

The USA Ultimate National Championships represent the pinnacle of elite ultimate in North America and crowns champions in three divisions: men’s, mixed and women’s.

                                   


    

13. HauntFest on Main

                                               

Costume Contests on the Main St. Stage; an expanded Carnival Rides and Games; Car Show; Candy Challenge Activities; Kidz Zone, Face Painting; performances by TNT Dancers, Arts In Motion Crew & Jr. Crew, and St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center Pumpkin Patch; Craft and Game booths; LED Rock Wall; Inflatables for kids; With Movies In The Park.

                                   


    


14. Aspen Medical Products San Diego Triathlon Challenge

                                               

Join us at our signature event to swim, bike, and run. Your fundraising efforts will support challenged athletes with grants for adaptive sport equipment, coaching, and competition expenses.

                                   


    

                                   


    

15. Oceanside Dia de los Muertos Festival

16. Nightmare on Normal Street

                                               

With late night live entertainment, costume competitions (including a special pet contest for your furry, fuzzy, and feathery companions) outdoor bars, and the best people watching in all of San Diego - this is an event you won’t want to miss! This event is 21+.

                                   


    


17. Third Avenue Village Día de los Muertos

                                               

Guests will be able to celebrate this event with two different options: La Ofrenda, a ticketed portion that gives guests the chance to sample a variety of tastes from local businesses and redeem special discounts throughout the night and Treats & Sweets, a free, family-centric option where little catrines and catrinas (kids) can wander through participating businesses to collect goodies.

                                   


    

18. Lions Tigers & Bears Spooky Campover

                                               

This spooky overnight event includes campfire songs, pumpkin carving, and a Halloween costume contest. Enjoy the fun of the animal trivia challenge, make s'mores by the campfire, and sip hot cocoa at our big cat and wildlife sanctuary in San Diego.

                                   


    

19. Encinitas Dia de los Muertos Celebration

                                               

Celebrate life with live performances, art-making workshops, a student art exhibit, artist demos, food trucks and more.

                                   


    

20. City Heights Dia de los Muertos

                                               

People of all cultures will come together for community altars, face painting, mask making, and prizes for the best catrina and catrin contest, plus dancing, singing and music.
